  • In a future not that far from now, society has collapsed. International travel, national governments, and law and order are no more. The quality of each person's life depends entirely on the way in which those who run their home territory choose to do so. Here in Ravensnest, controlled by the Ravens, life is hard. No electricity; no machinery powered by anything other than human effort; no freedom.

    No more books, songs, or stories. No more dreams or imagination. This is local dictatorship in an almost empty world.

    Yet, while the Ravens may believe that history can indeed be both written and erased by the victors - while they choose to suppress all information that has not been officially Sanctioned by their High Council, and to enforce their laws with punishments that went out with the Dark Ages - there are those who do not agree.

    The Magpies - who slip out under cover of darkness to deface the Ravens' logos and signs, to leave secret messages of hope, and to hold clandestine meetings in which they share Unsanctioned stories from the Time Before - are here to prove that the Ravens have not won. Defying the Council, they dare to tell tales from the Old World, to uncover and share its truths, as they strive to build a better and brighter future in this new one.
